Auxiliary Unit 15 Takes Top Honors at State Convention

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 brought home top honors from the Department of Texas State Convention, proudly representing the Lindale community with outstanding entries in two statewide competitions.

The Auxiliary earned 1st place for their Story/Display Board, marking their third consecutive win in this category. In addition, Unit 15 took 3rd place for their Scrapbook, a notable achievement among at least 18 submissions from across Texas.

This year’s scrapbook entry was especially significant, as it was the first time in several years that Lindale had a submission in the Scrapbook category. The entry was a creative and meaningful documentation of the Auxiliary’s work and impact throughout the year.

These awards are a reflection of the tireless efforts and attention to detail from Jan Stehman and Val Swift, who devoted more than eight months of preparation and planning to both projects. Their dedication and talent ensured that the accomplishments, events and spirit of Unit 15 were well represented and preserved.

As Post Commander, I could not be more proud of the Auxiliary and the example they set. Their work uplifts not just our Post but the entire Lindale community. Their commitment to excellence is matched only by their passion for service.

These recognitions are more than awards—they are a reflection of the American Legion Auxiliary’s mission to support The American Legion, promote patriotism, honor veterans, and serve our community. The Story/Display Board captured the spirit and activity of Unit 15 in a powerful visual format, while the Scrapbook served as a historical archive of their programs, projects and impact.

The Post 15 Family shares in this success and celebrates with pride the continued excellence of our Auxiliary. Their efforts strengthen not only the bonds within our Post but also reinforce the broader goals of service, support and Americanism that define the American Legion Family.

Congratulations to everyone in Unit 15 who contributed to these winning entries. We thank you for your leadership, creativity and unwavering commitment to veterans and their families.
