Post 15 is throwing its first-ever Rigs on the Range weekend, and you’re going to want to be here. Friday afternoon the rigs roll in and set up camp on the Post grounds. That evening our Honor Guard will put on a proper flag retirement ceremony at the brand-new Eagle Scout–built pit. It is moving, it is respectful, and yes, you should stick around to watch it because you will not see anything like it at your average car show.
Saturday morning the Auxiliary is feeding everybody breakfast for a donation. You get eggs, coffee, and maybe a side of sass from the ladies running the kitchen. Then the vendors show up, the rigs line up, and the fun begins. Trucks, SUVs, vans, campers, cars… if it is built to go off the beaten path, it belongs here. The kids can fish in the lake, the grown-ups can wander around pretending they know what suspension travel is, and everyone can enjoy a family-friendly day out at the Post.
We are wrapping things up a little earlier than most shows, but that is because one of our sponsors is leading a caravan to Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area for some guided off-road action. So you can polish your rig all morning, then go get it dirty that afternoon.
This is not just another car show, this is Rigs on the Range. Bring the family, bring your sense of humor, and be ready for a weekend of camaraderie, community, and a little bit of chaos the way veterans like it.
The Post with the Most
You might think an American Legion Post is just a smoke-filled bar with a pool table. Not here. Post 15 in Lindale, Texas, is practically an adventure base camp. We have our own lake stocked for fishing, campgrounds with RV hookups, covered pavilions, BBQ pits, horseshoe pits, and plenty of open space to spread out and breathe. Oh, and if that is not enough, we even have our very own gun range.
For Rigs on the Range, we are opening it all up. That means you can pitch a tent or park your camper right here Friday night, grab breakfast from the Auxiliary on Saturday morning, let the kids fish while you check out the rigs, and then head out for a guided off-road run at Barnwell Mountain. It is the kind of weekend you wish every Post had.
This is not just a car show and not just a Legion Post. It is a family-friendly spot where adventure meets community — hosted by folks who know a thing or two about service, tradition, and telling tall tales around a campfire.
